Beauty tips for Bridal

  • Make-up starts with great skin. Here’s a list of things you should keep in mind and avoid a few days before the wedding: -

  • Avoid substances that could give you oily skin, swelling and irritation. These include red meat, alcohol, caffeine, spicy or deep fried foods.

  • Remember to drink lots of water to keep hydrated and flush out the toxins.

  • Avoid using Retin A and Alpha Hydroxy creams prior to the wedding day. They may cause skin peeling, flaking and irritation.

  • Exfoliate your skin with a manual exfoliator the day before your wedding.

  • Have your brows professionally shaped prior to the wedding day. Nice brows are very important because they frame the eyes. -

  • Refresh your hair color a week before the wedding.

  • Get rid of dark roots and split ends.Remove all traces of makeup the night before your wedding.

  • Avoid dry lips by putting a lip moisturizer on your lips before bed and the morning of your wedding. The first step is to apply touches of concealer, which will hide any pesky imperfections. Next, apply a foundation that matches your skin tone.

  • For a soft, natural glow, dust a light pink to the apples of cheeks if your skin is fair, and choose a rosy shade if your skin is beige to bronze. If you put on too much, don't panic-you can just dust over a small amount of powder to even it out. Always carry powder with you for quick touch-ups.

  • Choose a lip color that's a bit bright. Pale nude or brown lip hues can make you appear washed out in photos, particularly since you'll be wearing white. If you normally wear a neutral hue, wear it as your base with a pink or rose color on top. If you normally wear dark lipstick, use that as your base and apply a lighter sheer pink on top to give you a lift.

  • You can have the softest lips and the perfect lipstick, but if your teeth are yellow, you won't want to flash a smile. There are lots of safe, reliable over-the-counter teeth-whitening systems, which all whiten teeth by a few shades.

  • Don't, however, use foundation on your decolletage -- it can stain your dress.
    Carry Protection

  • Use bronzing powder on your chest and neck if you need to even out your skin tone -- it will make your skin more luminous and ensure that your face doesn't look too different from your

  • Your face should be clean and product free when the make-up artist arrives.

  • If you’re not hiring a make-up artist for the whole wedding day make sure you have a lipstick, powder and blotting sheets with you to touch up when needed.

  • Smooth SelectionConcealers come in pots, sticks, wands, compacts, and tubes. But no matter which packaging you choose, look for a creamy texture, one that’s smooth to the touch. Avoid products that feel greasy, dry, or thick, or ones that have a chalky consistency.

  • Before applying any makeup, make sure your skin is clean and moisturized.

  • Apply skin protective cream under make up to protect the skin from the sun.

  • Your foundation should last long and not look powdery or caked on. Your skin should look radiant and fresh and not shiny and oily looking.

  • If your wedding is early, or if time is of the essence, plug in your rollers, curling iron, or straightening iron before your stylist arrives to save time.

  • Use concealer only where needed: under eye, around the nose, and obvious blemishes.

  • Set with a loose powder and touch up shiny skin with blotting papers throughout the day.

  • Use an eye primer or base before applying shadow so that it will not crease or fade.

  • Give your hair a spa day! Have a professional scalp massage (which not only feels good, but stimulates the hair follicles and adds body) and deep conditioning treatment the week before your wedding.

  • Pimples and under-eye circles are the most common concealer targets, but there are a host of other complexion spoilers that need covering: small scars, broken blood vessels, redness around the nose, the inner corner of your eyes. On your big day you should also use concealer to cover up small bruises or blemishes on your arms, chest and back

  • Use AC's Eye Paints as a base in any of the neutral colours.

  • Use shadow colours in light shades like champagne, silver or taupe.

  • Benefit's new Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner comes in many beautiful shades including a black one which can be used as the black liner.

  • Finish off the eyes with lots of waterproof mascara from Maybelline.

  • To define the brows, use a slanted brush and brow powder for a natural effect like Benefit's Brow Zings which comes with a brow wax to keep in place, brow powder, tweezers, and slanted brush.

  • Go for neutral tones in browny pinks or rose.

  • I like Nars' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Forbidden Red because it also acts as a lip liner. If a lipstick is prefered then make sure to get a lip liner to prevent the colour from bleeding like MAC's lip pencil in Brick.

  • If the red in the picture is too strong for you opt for more berry-reds or reds in a sheer form. Make Up For Ever has a great lip matifyer called Matte Lip that you can apply over any lipstick or gloss with long-lasting effects.

  • Make Up For Ever's Lip Plus Lipstick Sealer this is a great option for people who don't buy matte lipsticks.

  • Use a nice gold shadow on the lid and in corner of eyes like MAC's Eye Paint in Base Light. Smudge a brown shadow like MAC's Espresso into the upper lash line and outer crease.

  • Load on the waterproof mascara and add some falsies to the outer corner. Sweep a soft pink powder blush onto the cheeks like MAC's Dame or Benefit's Dandelion highlighting powder.

  • Be sure to line lips in a corresponding shade to prevent feathering or bleeding but blend really well with a lip brush so it does not look too defined. Wearing a lip primer is a good idea as this will also keep your lip colour on all day.

  • Use Benefit's Lip Plump all the time to smooth out lines and to prep the lips before applying colour.

  • For extra lasting effects apply Make Up Forever's Lip Plus Lipstick Sealer.

  • Blend WellSmooth and blend concealer in a gentle pressing action with the pads of your first two fingers. The aim is to make it as smooth as possible so it isn’t visible or distracting. Be gentle, though -- you don't want to end up rubbing the concealer away. One of the most common concealer mistakes is overzealous blending.

  • Looks for Darker Skin Tones:Darker tones can get away with doing a smokey look on the eyes because it doesn't look overdone as it would on someone with fairer skin. Check out Iman Cosmetics for tips and products.

  • There are some amazing looks on there! That rounds out my list for my favourite bridal beauty looks! I hope all you brides out there were able to get some ideas and helpful tips. Remember, in the end you want to look like you but only better on your wedding day.

  • To cover a red pimple, use a concealer shade as close to your skin tone as possible. If it's a dark blemish, use a slightly lighter concealer. Using your concealer brush, dab on a small amount of concealer and set with powder. If necessary, add a second layer of each. And remember: It's okay if you don't achieve total elimination. The point is to de-emphasize. An overly concealed spot will only call attention to itself -- not the goal you had in mind.
